Working in groups, they made various natural cosmetic products—from homemade lip balm to fragrant bath salts and room sprays to cooling insect balm.
The young people planned their work independently: they tested ingredients, experimented with colors and scents, documented the production process with photographs, and then designed labels, posters, and a PowerPoint presentation. They also set up a sales and presentation room so that they could showcase their results at the open house.
With a great deal of creativity, teamwork, and scientific curiosity, a multifaceted project was created that demonstrated how dynamic chemistry can be and how much it enriches our everyday lives.
