And where else, if not in a functioning education system, in a good school, can we succeed in making the next generation, young people, fit in the sense of fit for the future for the changing demands of working life. Based on this conviction and against the background of the rapidly changing circumstances after the political change in 1989, Rüdiger School and Dr. Horst Jähnert founded the European Primary School Glauchau in 2003: A new type of school, which on the one hand was to be forward-looking, cosmopolitan, foreign language oriented and geared to the increasing challenges of the working world. On the other hand, values and norms were to play a major role in the lessons.
The success of the first school proved the founders right, and more schools were founded between 2005 and 2009 - in July 2009, the Saxony International School was born, and all existing schools were transferred to SIS. Finally, on 17 August of the same year, the school's sponsor was ceremoniously named after Carl Hahn, the well-known automobile manager, cosmopolitan and native of Chemnitz.
Based on internationally successful concepts and oriented towards the Saxon curricula, we offer a continuous, holistic educational programme that starts at an early age. Solid subject knowledge, foreign language, media and business competence, social skills and orientation towards the values and norms of our society are the pillars of our educational concept.
The schools of the SIS network are places where first-class knowledge acquisition takes place in small classes and through individual support. Team spirit and a pleasant learning atmosphere contribute to sustainable learning success. The latest scientific findings are always incorporated into the teaching methods. Regular further training of our teachers in the subject sciences and in methodological-didactic areas ensure the high quality of teaching at our schools.
We want the lessons to set impulses for lifelong learning. Learning processes are therefore designed in such a way that content is not passively absorbed, but actively, independently and creatively acquired. We attach great importance to individual, age-appropriate and sequential teaching of knowledge and skills. Uniform school uniforms are worn at our schools because we consider it important to emphasise what unites us and to prevent exclusion.
We are convinced that every pupil is entitled to good teaching and must be developed, strengthened and supported in the sense of a holistic personality. We focus on holistic learning with head, heart and hand, want every individual to develop the willingness to take responsibility for themselves and others and thus be able to stand up for social justice in our society and to work honestly and independently. We see mutual respect, openness, respect, self-reflection, the ability to work in a team and the development of empathy, tolerance and social values as the cornerstones of our actions. Global thinking and awareness of sustainability also guide our actions.
