In the previous school year, the pupils began to deal with the concentration camp past of their surroundings as part of their GwP lessons. Guided by the project staff of the "DenkMal! Death March Mülsen - Eibenstock 1945" project, the class visited the textile factory Jahn GmbH & Co. KG. The factory site was used to manufacture aircraft parts due to the bombing of industrial plants at the end of the Second World War. The Nazis used prisoners from the Flossenbürg concentration camp to carry out the work. The workers were held captive in inhumane conditions in the basement of the factory.
In addition, Dr. Oliver Titzmann visited the class and spoke about the death march to which the prisoners were subjected at the end of the war when they were evacuated by the Nazis.
During these sessions, the pupils looked at how the events surrounding the concentration camp could be reappraised and made interesting for young people. The special thing about this project is that apart from a memorial in front of the factory building, hardly any reappraisal took place.
Together with the FAB-Mobil, the pupils are working on a digital tour through history. This involves reconstructing the factory and providing important information. The different teams in the class work, for example, on modeling the factory, which sources and information are placed where and how detailed the interiors can be reconstructed.
