The audience heard piano pieces by Robert Schumann and saw fantastic ballet and acrobatic dance performances.
Ballet doesn't have to be dull and boring! The GTA participants were able to see this for themselves during the "Schumann!" visit. The elements on stage were as varied and emotional as Schumann's music - incidentally, Schumann was born in Zwickau in 1810. There were handstands, twisted leaps across the entire stage, impressive solos and couple dances as well as ensemble dances. Of course, there were also classical ballet elements to be seen, but there were also humorous moments that had something clownish about them. The auditorium was filled with amazement when dancers suddenly fell over the edge of the stage into the open orchestra pit, only to reappear shortly afterwards laughing and presenting new choreographies. The 16-member dance ensemble also created wonderful images in the second part. From one moment to the next, the performers became an oversized flower that opened and closed again to the sound of the piano. A big bravo goes at least equally to the pianist, who played the "Davisbündlertänze", the "Carnaval" and the "Papillions" by Robert Schumann live on the piano in both parts of the evening. Everything was just right that evening!
There was a standing ovation at the end - and rightly so! The dancers and the pianist had given their all in just under two hours and performed art at a very high level.
