Foreign Languages as a Bridge - our school supports emergency training

The fact that learning a foreign language is much more than just cramming vocabulary was demonstrated at a special meeting in Reinsdorf on August 19, 2025. The language skills of our school were requested for the planned emergency training courses in the region - a strong sign of how important languages can be in everyday life.

The focus is on cooperation with the police, fire department and rescue services. These emergency services should be prepared to communicate with people who do not speak German in an emergency. This is where our foreign language teachers come into play: Mr. Baloyi (English), Mr. Escañuela (Spanish) and Ms. Longobardi (Italian) will take part in the simulations as "accident victims" or people involved. In this way, the emergency services practise how to overcome language barriers and act quickly even in stressful situations.

The cooperation underlines the reputation of the International Schools Reinsdorf as an international school and highlights the value of language skills for social interaction.

In a country that is home to people from many nations, situations can arise at any time in which communication across borders is vital - for example in the event of a road traffic accident.

For us, this project means one thing above all: foreign languages are not just exam material, but real bridges between cultures. They can even save lives in an emergency. A powerful example of why it's worth putting your heart and soul into learning languages!
