The sixth grade cooks a performance control

As part of their German lessons, the sixth graders at our grammar school first wrote an unusual performance review and then more or less ate it. The curriculum requires them to be able to describe a process in writing. So why not write a cooking recipe? No sooner said than done!

The German teacher Mr. Klose gathered all the students in the school kitchen and pre-cooked. The twenty students recorded the individual ingredients and steps in the process. Afterwards, the prepared dish, which had already been pre-cooked in large quantities, was eaten by everyone. The next day, the students wrote a recipe from their protocols and now they can start cooking at home.

Here is the written recipe by Tilda Hampel from class 6 IGR to recreate:

Spaghetti Grillognese

Ingredients: 500g spaghetti, two leftover steaks from the day before (sausage works too), two carrots, two stalks of celery, one onion, two cloves of garlic, two cans of tomatoes, two bay leaves, 200ml broth, Italian herbs, salt, pepper, oil.

Recipe: Cut the steaks from the day before into small pieces. Then chop the carrots, celery, onions and garlic. Now heat the pan to full and add the oil. When the pan is hot, add the steak and sear evenly. Once the meat is seared, you can add the vegetables, two bay leaves and at the end the garlic too. Now salt and pepper, add herbs and after about 5 minutes deglaze with broth (German teacher's note: red wine works well too.) and bring to a boil. Add two cans of tomatoes and bring to a boil again. Then turn down to low and simmer for about two hours. Finally, cook spaghetti and serve with the sauce.

Bon appétit!
